We are a team of highly experienced specialists who have worked in HR in the public, private and not for profit sectors in operational and strategic senior HR manager positions. We assist clients based predominantly in Kent, East Sussex and London, on a wide range of HR matters. Our commercial and proactive HR professionals pride ourselves on giving clear practical advice and support which is both strategic and commercially focused.

Catherine Daw, Principal Lead for Kent HRCatherine Daw

Catherine is a partner within Brachers LLP and the principal lead for Kent HR.  She has particular specialisms, working with clients in the healthcare, education, tourism and manufacturing sectors and provides strategic and day to day advice to HR and management teams including on restructuring issues, complex disciplinary matters and discrimination issues.  
Catherine has maintained long-standing client relationships and works closely with clients to meet their strategic aims. She has supported large organisations in managing extensive change programmes, and work transfers, and has promoted the development of clients’ HR teams through the introduction of integrated document systems, bespoke training and engagement initiatives.  She is a competent and engaging speaker and provides training on all aspects of employment law, HR practice and strategic and decision making models.

Jo Worby, Founding Member of Kent HRCatherine Daw

Jo is a Managing Partner of Brachers LLP and founding member of Kent HR.  With over 25 years of experience she works with SME’s and educational establishments providing strategic, business planning and HR advice to management teams. Jo values long term relationships with her clients and collaborative working. A strategic thinker with great commerciality she often supports Boards and senior leaders with complex employee issues, business planning and people strategy.

Michelle Perry, MediatorVeronica Fox

Michelle has mainly worked in professional service organisations and is an experienced Mediator for Kent HR as well as being a member of the Executive Committee at Brachers LLP.

Having over twenty years’ experience in Human Resources both in-house and as a consultant, Michelle advises on strategic plans and successfully implements organisational change, by engaging others with the process. With a strong financial background Michelle’s experience includes the commercial aspects of HR management, assisting Brachers and clients for whom she works in achieving the right result and moving forward.

Veronica Fox, HR ConsultantVeronica Fox

Veronica joined Kent HR as an HR Consultant in the Employment and HR Team in September 2015; having worked previously for a Kent HR consultancy.  Veronica worked for many years for London Underground Ltd, as a HR generalist and operationally as an employee relations specialist; and also worked as a Recruitment Assessor for a number of home county police forces.

Veronica has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the public, private and third sectors  - working in unionised and non-unionised environments – with a focus in more recent years on SME’s.  She has also worked in the education sector, providing HR support in primary, secondary, FE and HE environments.  Other areas of expertise include; complex employee relations issues, restructuring, training, recruitment and HR policy and procedures.

Veronica is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), with over 20 years’ experience in her profession.

Outside of work, Veronica keeps busy with her family and is passionate about dancing and netball!

Lily Toppo, HR ConsultantLily Toppo

Lily joined Kent HR as an HR Consultant in the Employment and HR Team in December 2018. Prior to joining, Lily worked as a HR Consultant for nationwide firm, Stone King and previous to this worked as a Senior HR Officer in the Schools HR Team for Wandsworth Borough Council. She has also worked for John Lewis Partnership for a number of years in a range of operational and strategic roles including Personnel Manager.

Lily has extensive knowledge and experience of the Education sector and Commercial sector. She also has experience of working in a non-unionised and unionised environment and has provided HR support to primary and secondary schools including single academy and multi-academy trusts. She has also managed different sized teams including working in a standalone role. She has supported Senior Management in reaching overall organisational goals through aligning HR strategy to organisational strategy. She delivers onsite and offsite training to clients on HR matters.

Lily is also member of the CIPD with over 10 years of experience in providing professional and reliable HR advice.

Wendy Tull, HR Consultant and MediatorWendy Tull

Wendy joined Kent HR as an HR Consultant in the Employment and HR Team in March 2019. Prior to joining Wendy worked as an interim with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Previously Wendy has worked with a variety of public, private and third sector organisations at a local, national and international level including ICI; Givaudan; Ministry of Justice; NHS; Kent Police; British Transport Police; Scope; NEST and Livability.

Wendy has extensive experience of carrying out investigations and managing complex disciplinary and grievance cases; implementing change management initiatives including organisational restructures, redundancy processes and TUPE transfers and in‐depth negotiations with a variety of unions and non-union environments on Terms & Conditions and reward structures. She is used to developing procedures to meet legislative requirements and business needs; ensuring that frameworks are fit‐for‐purpose and easy to understand. Her HR experience together with her operational knowledge means she is able to achieve excellent results.

Wendy is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), with over 25 years’ experience in her profession. In the early 2000s she trained as a mediator and introduced the internal mediation network into Kent Police. She has worked with a range of organisations to support early intervention solutions.

In addition she delivered as Lecturer on the MBA in Human Resource Management at Canterbury Christ Church University in 2007 and 2008.

Outside of work Wendy keeps busy with family and is a Trustee Board member for the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in Maidstone, a role she has held for 12 plus years; a Trustee of the Maidstone Churches Winter Shelter (MCWS) and a Parish Councilor.

Hazel Burgess, HR Support

Hazel joined Brachers LLP in September 2001 as a Legal Secretary in the Employment team. Hazel is an experienced secretary who provides PA and secretarial support to Kent HR and is the PA to the head of KentHR. 

Hazel is always happy to help to ensure we deliver a high quality service to our clients and prides herself on having a very good knowledge of internal systems, processes and practices.

Lisa Clements, HR Support

Lisa joined Brachers LLP as a Legal Secretary in the Civil Litigation Team in November 2000.  After many years in this department she moved to the Employment team and associated HR Consultancy, Kent HR team in July 2014.  Lisa now supports Kent HR with admin and secretarial functions and outsourced support for clients. 

Lisa’s role is to assist the solicitors and HR consultants in providing legal services to our clients, helping them maximise the amount of time they are able to spend on client-focused work.

Sue Tewes, HR Support

Sue joined Brachers’ Personal Injury Department in 1997.  She has worked in many departments including Dispute Resolution, Clinical Negligence and Employment.

Sue is an experienced secretary who is well known for her helpful and approachable manner. As part of Sue’s role she supports Kent HR’s consultants to enable them to deliver a high level of service to their clients.
